    Workshop Description – Embodying Equity
This advanced arts equity workshop is an experiential peer learning session led by national leader Claudia Alick. Using an intersectional lens we will be gaining more cultural humility in gender justice, racial justice, and disabled justice. We will identify critical issues Bay Area artists and arts educators need to address in the current climate. How to address and interrupt oppression and injustice when it happens – with students, colleagues, administration, families (of students). How the arts/arts teaching are tools for liberation. How we can identify our own privilege and power, and wield that power to challenge systemic oppression. We will be looking at how systems of oppression have impacted the SF Bay Area historically and reflect on and evaluate the impact of our own practices from a social justice lens. We will grow our vocabulary, and find ways to put our ideas into action.
