VAPA classes will continue to fulfill high school requirement

The California Senate Appropriations Committee did not approve Assembly Bills 2446 and 35 which would have allowed CTE (career technical education classes) in lieu of VAPA (visual and performing arts classes) to replace the VAPA high school requirement.  This is good news for all of us who believe dance should be taught as a VAPA standards-based art form in public schools. There is a place for both CTE and VAPA in a complete education please read the California Alliance for Arts Education policy paper on this topic at www.artsed411.org.
