What type of dance is done in Peru? Ghana and Guinea? In this camp, students will learn creative dance and improvisation and how it connects to African-based dances. Dancers will gain a deeper understanding of these African-based dances, while learning about the elements of dance and improvisation.

Summer 2018 theme:

Week 1: Tween/Teen dancers immerse themselves in choreography and multi-media in this fun dance-with-camera focused camp! Learn about making dances, applying choreographic tools such as retrograde and fragmentation, and translating these skills into video. Dancers explore perspective; production elements like lighting, staging and costuming; and collaborative site-specific dances. Dance films from past and present will inform our experience with dance and video editing.

Week 2: What stories are you interested in telling? Explore the world of memory, ground yourself in the now, and imagine the world of tomorrow.  Create dances inspired by historic or futuristic ideas. Make new friends, exchange ideas, collaborate, and learn all about the art of choreography.
