Parent-child Classes (MPACT)
Luna Dance Institute has been offering family dance classes since we opened in 1992. Our relationship-based dance curriculum allows parents and children opportunities to learn about themselves and one another through movement play.
MPACT (Moving Parents and Children Together) classes have proven to be beneficial for families under duress or who are reunifying after a separation. These relationship-based dance classes:
- Provide families with a safe, comfortable environment to play and dance together
- Facilitate the parent-child bond
- Help parents gain confidence in their ability to interact physically with their children
MPACT parent-child dance classes are offered for FREE in four, five and six week sessions. Depending on the season, these Saturday classes may be offered in various library locations in Oakland (Cesar Chavez, Eastmont, 81st Avenue, West Oakland) or at our home studio in Berkeley. See the current schedule of library classes. No pre-registration is required, but an RSVP helps us know how many families to expect. For more information or to RSVP, contact firstname.lastname@example.org
Parent-child dance classes are also offered in regular sessions through our Studio Lab.
Quote from parent: “…my first experience ever bonding with my child like that…doing the dancing…it balanced me out and showed me what I can do with my child just on a normal, daily basis.”
